deacons training

Deacons are:

a community of caring people who prepare, pray and work to meet the needs of OCC and surrounding community and to call the wider church community to do this.

We do this by:

Meeting weekly to pray for the church and to review the needs presented to the deacons.

Offering listening/care/prayer to parishioners and visitors

Planning short-term interventions or referrals

Dispersing funds for the Greater Than One Program and occasional benevolence funds.

The Deacon's Training Program meets on Wednesday evenings from  7-9pm.

Each meeting will include a combination of training, community building and practical service.

We will meet starting on January 31st and finish on March 28th.

The Deacons are a community, and it's important that the group develops a rhythm of life together. That's why its important that if you join the Deacon Training Program, you are able to commit attending each week (barring unforseen circumstances and very occasional scheduling conflicts).
